Art Deco barograph housed in an oak bevelled glass display case standing on a raised, moulded plinth with pad feet.

Six vacuum chambers upon the brass plate linking the pen arm to the revolving drum and linked to the barometer.

Square Art Deco style silvered dial marked from 28 to 31 inches of mercury with three weather indications, original ‘blued’ steel hand signed Winter & Sons, Opticians, Newcastle on Tyne.  Duel compartment chart drawer and original ink bottle.  C.1920

 

T.B.Winter & Sons began trading in 1875 and was a well known and highly regarded instrument maker.  Thomas Winter became both Alderman and Justice to the peace during his lifetime.  In 1898 his son Charles Winter took over the business and continued trading under the same name throughout the 1920’s.
