French Ormolu Mantel Clock

 

French mantel clock housed in an ormolu case with stepped base and decorated feet, floral, wreath and cherub decoration.  To the side of the dial is a classical figure in robes playing the flute, the case surmounted by a lyre.

Gilded dial with floral chased bezel and dial centre, Roman numerals and original ‘blued’ steel Moonpoise hands.

Eight day French movement with silk suspension and outside countwheel, striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell. C.1870
