French miniature Campaign clock in a Rosewood case standing on a raised moulded plinth and inlaid with satinwood line stringing and floral decoration. Rising glass front with top glazed viewing aperture surmounted by an ornate carrying handle.

Enamel dial with Roman numerals and original ‘blued’ steel hands signed ‘Joseph Dixon & Son, Paris’.

Eight day movement with anchor escapement with outside countwheel striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell, the backplate also signed Joseph Dixon & Son, Paris and numbered 1040. C.1870

‘Watchmakers and clockmakers of the world’ by Brian Loomes lists Dixon & Fils as working in Paris c.1870
