Napolean III Marble & Ormolu Clock

Stunning Napolean III French Ormolu and white marble clock with gilded Baccanalian frieze decoration to the base and seated a classical lady standing on six gilded button feet.

Enamel dial with Roman numerals, eight day movement by ‘’Vincenti’, Paris’’.

Outside countwheel striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell.  C.1860.

Jean Vincenti started his clockmaking workshop just prior to 1823 in Montbeliard, France. Vincenti died in 1834, the business continued to thrive winning numerous awards including the ‘Medaille D’Argent ( silver medal) in Paris in 1855.

The company were known for fine quality movements. Vincenti was also especially noted for his highly decorative mantel clocks including those with inlaid Boullework.
