Victorian engraved carriage clock, gorge case, enamel dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary alarm dial. Eight day French repeating movement of fine quality with very refined wheelwork and although unsigned is almost certainly by one of the three most prestigious makers of carriage clocks, Drocourt, Margaine or Jacot, striking the hours and halves on a coiled gong with lever escapement numbered 1240.
