Fine Edwardian oak cased barograph with hinged lid, bevelled glass panels and central chart drawer.

Seven vacuum chambers linking the recording arm to the eight day movement to the revolving circular drum with lever escapement.

Original brass holder, ink bottle and dipper, centrally mounted mercury thermometer with a silvered scale. Turned pen setting knob to the brass plate with inset plaque bearing the makers name ‘Negretti & Zambra, London’. C.1910

‘Negretti & Zambra’ were undoubtedly the most famous barograph and instrument makers of the day. The firm had premises at Hatton Garden, Cornhill, Regent Street and Fleet Street and were appointed ‘Instrument makers to her Majesty’.
