Edwardian Barograph with Barometer, Negretti & Zambra, London

Edwardian polished oak cased barograph with bevelled glass panels.

 

Brass base plate stamped ‘Regent, Jewelled movement supporting the ten vacuum chambers linking the ink pen pointer to the revolving clockwork drum and to the silvered barometer dial. A silvered plaque with the number R/29867

 

The dial has five weather indications and central ’blued’ steel pointer and is signed Negretti and Zambra, London.

‘Negretti & Zambra’ were undoubtedly the most famous barograph and instrument makers of the day.  The firm had premises at Hatton Garden, Cornhill, Regent Street and Fleet Street and were appointed ‘Instrument makers to her Majesty’.
