Fine Art Deco Marble Mantel Clock

Art Deco mantel clock housed in a fan shaped case with finely figured Rouge, Cream and Black marble inserts, standing on a stepped black marble plinth. The dial supported either side by two gilded dancers standing on raised plinths.

Silvered bezel opening the silvered dial with ‘Art Deco’ style numerals and original ‘blued’ steel ‘Deco’ style hands.

The hinged back door with silk liked sound fret opening to the eight day French movement with platform escapement and outside countwheel, striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell. The backplate marked for ‘Marti’.  C.1920

‘Samuel Marti & Cie’ were well known French clockmakers working from their premises at Le Pays De Montbeliard Paris from just before 1860. They were awarded the medaille de bronze in 1867 at the Great Paris Exhibition and the Medaile D’or in 1900.
