Enamel dial with Roman numerals, original gilded hands, hand painted scene to the centre featuring heavenly cherubs signed ‘Litherland, Davies’ the case surmounted by a beautifully decorated urn with ormolu mounts.
Eight day French movement of fine quality with outside countwheel striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell. C.1820
This fine clock rests on it’s original wooden gilded base which has been recovered.
‘Watchmakers and clockmakers of the World’ by Brian Loomes lists Litherland, Davies & Co as working at Brownlow Hill, Liverpool 1816, Church Street, Liverpool 1816-34, Bold Street, Liverpool 1832-1877. Also imported clocks signed Paris.
