Ebonised and gilded case with fine, cast brass bezel opening to the enamel dial with Arabic numerals and original ‘blued’ steel hands.

Beautifully engraved thirty hour movement signed James Hawke, Bury St Edmunds and numbered 403 c.1790

Watchmakers and clockmakers of the world by Brian Loomes lists James Hawke as working in Bury St Edmunds (Suffolk) in the late 18th century.
