French Vernis Martin mantel clock with ormolu mounts. Beautifully decorated case featuring floral swags and foliage with central lovers scene to the front of the case.

Enamel dial with Roman numerals and original ‘blued’ steel hands.

Eight day movement striking the hours and halves on a coiled gong by Vincenti, Paris. C.1880

Jean Vincenti started his clockmaking workshop just prior to 1823 in Montbeliard, France. Vincenti died in 1834, the business continued to thrive winning numerous awards including the ‘Medaille D’Argent ( silver medal) in Paris in 1855.

The company were known for fine quality movements. Vincenti was also especially noted for his highly decorative mantel clocks including those with inlaid Boullework.
