Edwardian Weight Driven Chinoiserie Decorated Grandmother Clock

 

Edwardian Grandmother clock housed in a pagoda top case with raised Chinoiserie decoration on a black background.  Raised, stepped plinth with inset panel to the base, long break arch trunk door with gilded raised moulding featuring typical Chinese scenes.

The sides of the case with floral decoration and featuring two birds.  Pagoda top hood with opening glazed door surmounted by three gilded finials.

Brass dial with gilded spandrels, raised silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals and half hour markers. Finely matted dial centre with ringed winding holes, raised silvered dial to the arch for strike/silent and original finely cut ‘blued’ steel hands.

Eight day weight driven movement with anchor escapement striking the hours on a large bell with original brass covered weights and pendulum.  C.1900
