Edwardian Mahogany Balloon Mantel Clock, Asprey, London

Edwardian mantel clock housed in a balloon shaped mahogany case with satinwood line stringing and beautifully inlaid with mother of pearl, satinwood, brass and pewter with brass bezel and standing on four bun feet.

Enamel dial with Roman numerals, original ‘blued’ steel ‘Moonpoise’ hands and signed ‘Asprey, London’.

Eight day French movement with platform escapement stamped with the Lion trademark for Duverdrey & Bloquel.  C.1910

Albert Villon established the company in Saint-Nicolas-d’Aiermont, France, Paul Duverdrey joined the firm in 1887 followed by Joseph Bloquel on the death of Albert Villon.  The firm continued under the name of Duverdrey & Bloquel usuing the Lion trademark until 1939.
