Directoire Ormolu Portigo Clock

A Directoire Ormolu with black marble French pillar clock, three and a half inch enamel dial with Roman numerals signed ‘Viven Fils a Epernay’ with chased gilt bezel.  Bell striking silk suspension eight day movement, the backplate with outside countwheel strike also signed Viven, with visible gilded starburst pendulum.

The drum case surmounted by a figure of Napolean in front of a triumphal arch and flanked by a pair of Griffins above gilded and ornately turned pillars set on rectangular plinths resting on a black marble base, standing on four chased and engraved feet.  C.1795
