Chinoiserie Decorated Bell Top Mantel Clock by Elliott
Finely decorated bell top case with raised chinoiserie decoration depicting typical Chinese scenes on a black ground with gilded stepped mouldings, brass bun feet and surmounted by a decorative carrying handle.
Brass dial with finely engraved centre, raised silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, corner spandrels and original ‘blued’ steel hands signed for the retailer ‘Mallory, Bath’ and the maker ‘Elliott, London’.

In 1923 Frank Elliott founded the famous company of F.W.Elliott in Croydon. He was joined by his three sons 1n 1929. In 1944 one of his son’s Horace took over the business and was appointed chairman of the British Horological Institute in the same year. In 1966 his grandson Peter who was an engineer at Vickers Instruments Ltd took over the business.
Elliott was a highly respected clockmaking company who continued until 1973
