Ormolu and white marble mantel clock
Small ormolu and white marble striking mantel clock standing on toupee feet on an inverted marble base modelled with a classical lady together with child.
Gilded chased bezel opening to the enamel dial with original finely cut gilded hands and Arabic numerals.
Eight day movement with outside countwheel striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell. Marked for Vincenti No.6073. c.1840
Jean Vincenti started his clockmaking workshop just prior to 1823 in Montbeliard, France. Vincenti died in 1834, the business continued to thrive winning numerous awards including the ‘Medaille D’Argent ( silver medal) in Paris in 1855.
The company were known for fine quality movements. Vincenti was also especially noted for his highly decorative mantel clocks including those with inlaid Boullework.
