George III Bracket Clock by H.Thomas, London
Mahogany bell top case surmounted with hinged carrying handle and four brass ball finials standing on a raised plinth and resting on four pad feet. Cast brass quadrant , glazed side windows and roundels with a glazed rear door to view the movement.
Eight day double fusee movement with fine wheelwork and original verge escapement regulated by a short bob pendulum, striking the hours on a top mounted silvered bell. The backplate profusely engraved with foliate scrolls, the brackets also similarly engraved.
Silvered, engraved dial with Roman numerals signed ‘H.Thomas, London’ with strike / silent feature in the arch and calendar aperture above the VI with original finely cut ‘blued’ steel hands. C.1760
