Gilded chased bezel with bevelled convex glass opening to an enamel dial with Roman numerals signed Legout, Paris.

Eight day movement striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell. C.1860

‘Watchmakers and clockmakers of the world’ by Brian Loomes lists Legout as working from Avenue De Vichy during the late nineteenth century.
