Empire ormolu and porcelain clock

Fine Porcelain mounted (gilt bronze) ormolu mantel clock with reeded columns, Corinthian capitals and acorn finials, the arch top case draped with garlands and a Cherub’s head below a porcelain urn surmounted by a butterfly.  The whole standing on a rectangular plinth inset with porcelain panels depicting cherub’s at play.

The front inset with a porcelain panel painted with the dial with Roman numerals and fine gilt hands above a mother and child scene within tooled gilt and ‘Beau-Celeste’ borders applied with red ‘jewels’, the sides inset with further panels beautifully painted.

Eight day French movement signed Samuel Marti with outside countwheel striking on a silvered bell. C.1860.
