French Swinging Cherub Clock

French Alabaster ‘Swinging Cherub’ mantel clock on an oval shaped base standing on four bun feet.  The two pillars with gilded capitals supporting the drum movement.

Enamel dial with Roman numerals, skeletonised eight day movement with two escape wheels signed ‘Echappement, Brevette’ to the backplate and also bearing the trademark for ‘Farcot, Paris’.  C.1885

 Farcot was the inventor of this unusual type of escapement, he worked in Paris from 1870 to 1875.
